Accessible and Usable

Accessibility does not automatically mean good usability and vice versa. Parallel to an accessibility analysis we can conduct a usability analysis in order to give you a better overall picture.

Reaching more people

Web or application accessibility aims to make the product usable by people of all abilities and disabilities. All users can have equal access to information and functionality when accessibility guidelines are applied to design and implementation.

Accessibility and universal design

Do you want to make your Website or product accessible to everyone? We will conduct an accessibility analysis and provide you with an easy to understand report with numerous code samples.

Not convinced yet? More about the benefits of accessibility and universal design.

In the UK the British Standards Institute has published official guidelines on how to achieve accessibility in "PAS 78:2006 Guide to good practice in commissioning accessible websites". The sites are tested against the regulations defined by the W3C including the three priority levels A, AA, and AAA. We consult you in:

  • how to achieve the three priority levels A-AAA
  • what their detailed requirements are
  • translating the legalese into concrete and practical recommendations

In addition, the accessibility analysis adheres to specialist advice and recommendations as outlined by the DRC, DDA, RNIB and BSI PAS 78.

Expertise based on international standards

The audit is carried out by one of our accessibility specialists. We manually check the site and use a large variety of tools such as HTML validators as well as colour blindness, CSS and JavaScript analysers.

The report - in layman's terms with code examples

The accessibility audit is chiefly recommendation-based in order to provide you a practical guide for optimising your site. We use everyday language and illustrate many findings with screenshots and code examples. You will receive:

  • an executive summary outlining the degree of accessibility and the necessary steps
  • a detailed description of our findings with precise instructions for recommendations and code samples

Quality assurance - an iterative process

After all the changes have been implemented we recommend running a quality assurance test. This gives you the ease of mind that your site now has reached the desired standards. The test is usually run 2-6 months after the implementation.

However, sites grow and change. In order to be assured that your high standards are maintained over time we can continue running accessibility quality assurance tests.

Implementing accessibility - designing and coding

We will not leave you on your own. Should you require support in implementing the recommended changes our team of designers and programmers, who are all familiar with the accessibility and usability requirements, will be happy to support you.
