Prototyping for a solid basis
lovelybooks.de is Germany’s largest and fastest growing online book community. The aboutbooks GmbH is part of the Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH publishing group. We jointly developed the prototypes.
Our task
At an early stage of the relaunch project we were asked to consult the team regarding:
- Usability feedback regarding the first new layouts
- Support in building the navigational concept
- Mutual definition of the structure of the site including core wireframes
Our solution
Since knowledge transfer to the team was one core aspect and time was pressing we decided for a process which allows close collaboration and direct feedback. After studying the clients' competitor analysis and the defined strategic direction of the online community we worked for one week at the client's premises directly with the team.
We performed workshops and allowed for break out sessions in which each member had to define his or her ideal content structure (wireframes) for a particular page. Afterwards we all met and discussed the results. The input from various people allowed for very efficient prototyping and definition of the core wireframes.
The result
After this intense week the client benefited from:
- A clearly defined site structure including key pages (sitemap, navigational concept and wireframes)
- Redesign of the first layout drafts (design done by internal team of LovelyBooks)
- The team was able to take over and complete the outstanding wireframes based on the concept defined together.
